On Friday 28 of August over 170 parents from G6-12 gathered for our first Parent Academy session.<\/p>\r\n
The session opened with a presentation from Miss Andrea May, the Head of Secondary School who thanked parents for their continued support. Parents were reminded of the importance of adaptability as the school continues to develop and to settle into its new routines. Creating a community as a whole is one of our key priorities, and therefore ensuring parents have a voice that supports this, is of high importance to us all.<\/p>\r\n

Miss Andrea May introduced a new, flattened hierarchical structure for the school and showed parents the new \u2018celebration system\u2019 that is set to widen opportunities for students. She also discussed next steps for some of the areas that were identified as needing improvement.<\/p>\r\n
Supporting the event, were Operation Director, Gloria Qiu and Head of School office, Nickolay Ran who outlined plans for the canteen.<\/p>\r\n

Parents then split into two groups and were given the opportunity to ask questions. Miss Donna Patton and Mr Damon Dai lead the G6-8 parents while Miss Andrea May and Mrs Samantha Nagorcka lead the G9-12 parents. G6-8 parents focused mainly on pastoral, dining and boarding, whilst G9-12 parents focused more on academics and the quality of teaching.<\/p>\r\n

Many parents expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to discuss their issues and all were pleased with the support given by the school as it enters this transition. In turn, Miss May thanked the parents for their patience and asked to be given time to manage the many changes the school was experiencing.<\/p>\r\n

Both sets of parents requested further sessions be scheduled. A Grade 12 parent session has taken place on 11 September and focused on the process of University applications. In addition, the grade 6-8 session, led by the Heads of Department, will take place on 25 September specifically to explain the curriculum content.<\/p>\r\n
