On 6 December 2024, Malvern College Chengdu celebrated its annual Pink Day, a heartwarming event filled with compassion and community spirit. This year’s theme, “Open the World of Reading, Embrace a Full Heart”, echoed through the campus as staff and pupils wore outfits featuring different pink elements, came together in colour and action to support a worthy cause.
Pink Day is more than simply charity and care; it serves as an important platform to raise awareness and to provide education about serious illnesses, particularly cancer. The event strives to sow the seeds of love and hope within every MCC pupil through the potent forces of charity and kindness.

On the ground floor of the library, next to the M2 Café, pupils were captivated by a delightful collection of impressive decorations and pink-themed books. “This is the story my mum told me when I was a child!” exclaimed Enby Wu, a Senior School pupil, upon discovering the pink cover of Guess How Much I Love You. “It’s as if this book has taken me back to those cozy and heartwarming moments.”

Books not only carry stories and knowledge but also profound love and selfless care. Alongside the exquisite books, the event featured exclusive pink bookmarks, stickers, and badges. The charity market featured lots of pink-themed treats such as pink coffee cups, pink cotton candy, and pink chocolates and attracted both young and old.
Furthermore, pupils from Prep 5 and Prep 6 devoted around two months to a project promoting the distinctive Yi Embroidery of Chuxiong. On Pink Day, they sold items inspired by this traditional cultural craft, including canvas bags, T-shirts, and phone stands.
The funds raised from the day’s charity sale have been gradually donated by the school to relevant medical institutions, including Sichuan Provincial Cancer Hospital. Malvern College Chengdu hopes that through this small, yet meaningful act, we can contribute to the collective effort of supporting those in need.
