For the past 10 years the Chengdu International Club have held a Holiday Bazaar at CDIS.. This event brings the international and local community together to support local charities. This year the chosen charities are Hopeful Hearts, International Poverty Reduction Center China, Huamei Education Training Center for the Disabled and Yi Autonomous Prefecture of Liangshan Women and Children Assistance Center.
On November 19th, five Malvern College Chengdu senior art students, under the guidance of Ms Dodd, held a festive face painting booth to help raise money for this event. Ms Dodd also made some delicious cookies for visitors to buy to help with the fundraising.
Over 2,800 people attended this year’s event and students from many schools danced, sang, and played instruments to entertain the crowds. The Chengdu locally produced crafts made ideal festive gifts for friends and family. There was a Santa photo booth, children’s games and market stalls selling Western and Chinese food.
