Message from Head of School

IN THIS SECTION

 December 22, 2022

Dear all,

Since the release of the “New Ten” prevention and control policies, some students, parents, teachers and support staff have been experiencing symptoms. We know that it has been a worrying time for everyone.

However, evidence suggests that Omicron is a milder strain of Covid-19 and that the main symptoms will disappear after 2-3 days, especially for healthy young people.

Therefore, don’t panic; continue with all the daily protection measures. If there are slight symptoms, you should rest and recover at home.

The key message is that SCHOOL IS OPEN and will remain so. Most teachers are at work, and we continue to offer good-quality lessons to the students in school. Homework and other teaching resources are available through our online platforms for those children who feel well enough to do a little schoolwork.

I sincerely thank the teaching team for their goodwill and team spirit during this challenging time. Every day they sorted out cover and took on extra lessons, all while checking the students’ health. Whether on campus or participating in online teaching, they truly exemplified the Malvern Qualities.

Thanks must also go to our administration and support teams for their rapid, effective and thoughtful response to the situation. Every day they carefully prepared nutritious meals for everyone at school, purchased supplies and arranged additional treats and remedies, including fresh fruits and hot lemon drinks, in the common areas.

I also want to thank our students and parents; your trust and support are what keep the school moving forward.

I know that this has been a very challenging week. I just wanted to express my thanks to everyone who ‘stepped up to the plate,’ Your good humour and flexibility were very much appreciated. For those at home battling the symptoms of Covid-19 and winter flu, I hope you and your family feel better soon.

Kind regards

Dr. Jill Cowie

Head of School
