K3 Graduation Ceremomy

IN THIS SECTION

 August 13, 2025

This graduation season, Malvern College Chengdu proudly celebrated the Class of 2025 under the inspiring theme: From MCC Dreams to Being a Change Maker in the World. On 26th June, our K3 pupils marked the end of their kindergarten journey with a joyful and heartfelt celebration. They are now ready to take their first steps towards a future shaped by their own dreams and potential.

Parents, hand in hand with their smartly dressed little graduates, entered the venue one after another. The children’s eyes sparkled with curiosity and anticipation, as if they were about to embark on a grand adventure.

Mr Michael Urquhart, Headmaster of Malvern College Chengdu, gave his address full of British humour and heartfelt pride: “I am so proud of how far this group of young learners has come. They are truly ready to take on Prep School — or should I just send you straight to Senior School?” Laughter filled the room, followed by a more serious note: “EYFS, to me, is every bit as important as IGCSEs or A Levels. The skills, curiosity, and foundational concepts that take root in these early years set the course for lifelong educational success.”

Standing centre stage, Head of Pre-prep school, Ms Jean Li shared a heartfelt reflection: “When I founded Malvern College Chengdu Pre-Prep School in 2019, my child was just a tiny newborn. Watching this school grow has been like raising my second child — a journey filled with love, challenges, and dreams.”

Speaking on behalf of the parents, George’s mother shared a touching memory: “I remember holding my breath the first time I saw the girls hanging upside down on the climbing frame! But then came to forest school, visited the tailor’s shop, the florist, and even posting parcels…After each adventure, George would come home full of excitement about his new adventures. Malvern has given our children one of life’s most precious gifts: the courage to explore freely.”

Teachers of Pre-prep school, Ms Dengmei and Miss Roma stepped on stage together, gazing lovingly at the children they had cared for every day. Speaking with warm, gentle and sincere voices, they shared what was in every teacher’s heart: “Watching you grow every day from shy little ones into thoughtful, capable, and curious young learners full of wonderful ideas, has filled us with pride! Ms Dengmei and Miss Roma love you all and will always be proud of you!”

To the sound of tender music, each child stepped forward to receive their very first graduation certificate — a milestone marked with pride and wonder.

Pupil representative Cecilia Ren recited her original bilingual poem with clarity and poise, her voice echoing throughout the hall:

“A little backpack full of dreams,

Step by step, we greet the waves in the sea of knowledge.

We set sail with brave hearts.

We will not fail!”

The K3 graduates presented their stage performance Yesterday’s Dream. As the children’s voices rang out, every small figure on stage came together to express one powerful idea: it is often the tiniest dreams from yesterday that become today’s shining moments of growth — which will one day light the path to changing in the world.

Today’s little Malvernians, tomorrow’s global changemakers. This love-filled ceremony was not an ending, but the beginning of a greater journey. The world now awaits for our dear children to write their own story.
