Malvern College Chengdu’s swimming classes opened!

What do students think of the swimming classes?

The highly anticipated swimming classes for early years, primary and secondary officially began on 15 November.Under the guidance of our teachers, children enjoy the relaxation and joy of swimming: their feet happily splashing in the water making small white waves, and the pool filled with laughter as the children swim like little fish. From this day on, swimming lessons have undoubtedly become one of the children’s favourite physical education classes. On the way to the swimming pool, you can always hear students laughing and saying: “Hooray, we have swimming class again!”, “I learnt how to hold my breath today!” and “When’s our next swimming class?”

How are water quality and temperature regulated?

The indoor heated pool is: 25 meters long, 15 meters wide. The pool is divided into shallow and deep-water areas, which can be used by children of different ages. Water is provided from the municipal water supply and filtered through an automatic gravity-dissolved oxygen sensor. We monitor the pool water daily and replace it regularly to ensure the pool’s water quality. The pool uses reverse circulation where it distributes water from the bottom and then returns it to the overflow gutter along the edge of the pool. This effectively prevents skin or clothing from being sucked in. Especially in winter, the school rigorously controls the indoor temperature and the water temperature at 27°C and 28°C respectively to make sure the children feel warm when entering and leaving the water. Thanks to a clean pool, clear water, and comfortable temperature as well as complete facilities and meticulous operation and management, it has been easy for the students to fall in love with swimming.

Comprehensive protection for children’s privacy and safety!

We’ve always put child protection and safe growth first. In the swimming pool, there are separate showers and bathrooms for adults and students. At least 5 teachers are present at every lesson, including 3 professional swimming teachers and 2 physical education teachers. This ensures that each student receives adequate attention and guidance. Essentials such as body wash, shampoo, cotton swabs and hair dryers are also available.
