Starting the week on a positive!

IN THIS SECTION

Nightingale House

Beginning each weekly assembly on a positive is an important part of Malvern College Chengdu’s ethos. Miss Donna Patton, Head of Pastoral, leads our weekly assembly which sees each House presenting on a different theme.

Lucy opened with a beautiful rendition of ‘My future’ by Billie Eilish which showed us her amazing talent and complete professionalism!

Nightingale House opened the 31 August assembly on the theme of ‘Cyber bullying’ by presenting some key messages on the issues involved in this ever-increasing area of students life. Their focus was on what to do and how to manage situations and it was impressive to see all our students listening attentively to their presentation.

School House

This week’s assembly was presented by School House on the theme of ‘Skills and Careers’. Students used a different approach, using a video that they had created and which featured key messages from different teachers. They focused on the 3C’s…. Choices, Chances and Changes, which was quite in keeping with MCC’s new site!

Genghis talked through these 3C’s, whilst students attentively watched a video made by the boys. Simon opened the assembly with a great guitar piece, again showcasing the immense talent we have here at school.

These messages were followed by a presentation from the Boarding House prefects, with Miss Andrea May presenting prefect badges to the new teams.

Head Boy and Girl, Carl and Sevinna then introduced our school prefects and asked other students for their applications, pointing out that this is the chance for students to raise their voices, to become responsible and to contribute to the positive changes taking place within the school.

This year’s first house competitions began with presentations for Student of the Week and House of the Week. Students from various grades were recognised for their hard-work and their efforts were rewarded with a Friday breakfast with the Head of Secondary.

School House topped the House Points leader board after some fantastic individual achievements.

The assembly recognized the Malvern Qualities and the Core Socialist values with students celebrating both their Chinese hearts, and their global minds and the assembly was brought a close by students standing to sing the Chinese national anthem.
