Boarding Life: Who will be the House of the Year?

IN THIS SECTION

 August 1, 2022

Dear parents and students,

The term has ended, so now is the perfect time to reflect on the achievements of the boarding houses as a community of Malvernians.

This year’s house competition has been even more fierce than in previous years, with every house achieving the number 1 spot several times and each house also having numerous individual accolades to celebrate throughout the term. After a very difficult judging process, the final winner of the ‘House Cup’ has been decided, and the result was unexpected, but fair. So, let’s congratulate Ellerslie House and Nightingale House, who were both awarded First Prize after they tied for first place! School House and Aston House followed closely, winning third and fourth place respectively.

The new structure of House Night has meant that a wider range of activities have been offered to students each week which has allowed them to participate to the maximum extent.

Secondary Boarding has continued its tradition of inter-house competition and activities aimed at building social skills and creating an inclusive environment for all. Tournaments including basketball, football and volleyball have been the highlights of the week for many students. Social night has also offered many opportunities to cook, craft and spend time together as a group.

Primary Boarding continues to grow with numbers increasing weekly. The staff have worked tirelessly to provide a stimulating and fun environment where all students in the primary school can flourish. They look forward to joining their new boarding house next term with its exciting new facilities to help grow the boarding further.

We extend our very best wishes to all graduates of Malvern College Chengdu. We look forward to hearing of all your successes in the future and we are proud that you are moving forward, well equipped for the next stage of your chosen pathway.

Thank you, as always, to our parents for your continued and essential support this academic year.

Neil Gillespie

Head of Boarding
