On August 20th, 2017, Malvern College Chengdu had its welcoming day for the new students who would join the school in September.

During the welcoming day, the students met new friends, new teachers and a new learning environment.

From this day forward, children should learn how to live independently and how to get along with others. The purpose of welcoming day is to let children to be familiar with the campus, the classroom, the school rules, and understanding that they are good enough to be able to live without parental care.

A team building game

The activities started with a game about folding a newspaper. The new students were divided into six groups for the first time. Students worked together in teams to break the ice and start to know one another.

Then children took their own luggage and went to the boarding house, put it in their own room, and prepared for the new classes.

The PE lesso

By playing some games and taking part in activities, students started to know what traditional British Education is all about. As a school, Malvern College Chengdu hopes all of these new students will enjoy the life in Malvern.

Mathematics lesson

During the mathematics lesson, students were divided into different teams. After the students learnt knowledge regarding the principle of inertia, they used balloons as buffers to learn from experience that eggs are not broken when they are thrown from a high place.

Chemistry lesson

The new students said that, In Malvern, they could do a lot of experiments instead of just learning the theories, which made them interested in studying science.  

During the night, students were organized into teams to have a debate.

In just a couple of days, students began to feel what a totally different education is all about. After the welcoming day, students stepped into a new stage of their lives.
